DFS acquired LIQAL BV in Breda, a technology-driven and scalable company specializing in small-scale Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and hydrogen technologies, complemented by LIQAL’s proprietary software solutions.
At LIQAL, we provide turnkey project solutions – designing, building, maintaining, and technically operating stations – with the vision of accelerating the transition from traditional fuels to alternative, sustainable fuels, while continuing to lead in our industry.
Position Summary
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of (bio-)L(C)NG and/or hydrogen refuelling station projects in Europe, from project initiation to final handover.
In addition to managing projects, you will also act as the people manager for the Engineering team, supporting their professional development, performance management, and day-to-day coaching. You will play a vital role in building a high-performing team and ensuring alignment between individual growth and organizational goals.
You will serve as the central point of contact for both internal stakeholders and external customers, ensuring clear communication, timely reporting, and the proactive identification and resolution of potential issues.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including procurement, engineering, production, and commissioning engineers, to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality clean energy refuelling stations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Leadership and Coordination

-Lead multiple projects simultaneously, with full accountability for scope, planning, quality, budget, and safety.

-Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to ensure seamless collaboration across departments.

-Drive key project milestones, including FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test).

-Ensure a complete and smooth transfer of all project deliverables to the Customer Service department once operational.
2. People Management

-Act as direct people manager for the Engineering team.

-Conduct regular 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, and development planning sessions.

-Support team members in setting and achieving professional goals, identifying training needs, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

-Promote a safe, collaborative, and motivating work environment, emphasizing innovation and accountability.

3. Client Relations and Stakeholder Management

-Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the entire project lifecycle.

-Provide transparent and proactive communication on project progress, risks, and results.

-Build strong, trust-based relationships with clients by delivering on promises and exceeding expectations.

- Effectively manage both internal and external stakeholders through structured communication via email, phone, and in-person meetings.
4. Project Planning and Process Optimization

-Develop and maintain detailed project plans using MS Office and project management tools.

-Identify risks and bottlenecks early and implement corrective actions to prevent delays and cost overruns.

-Continuously improve project workflows with a focus on lean project management and operational efficiency.
5. Budget Control and Reporting

-Prepare, manage, and monitor project budgets using ERP Business Central and related reporting tools.
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-Track financial performance and ensure alignment with overall project goals and objectives.
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-Ensure accurate and timely invoicing to clients and delivery within budget.
6. Innovation and Sustainability

-Play a key role in the energy transition by delivering innovative LNG infrastructure projects.
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-Collaborate with internal teams to propose sustainable and future-proof solutions that support company growth and environmental responsibility.
Profile - Knowledge
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in engineering, technology, or business administration.
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-Certification such as PMP, IPMA, or PRINCE2 is highly preferred.
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-3–5 years of experience in project management, preferably in a technical or industrial setting
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-Demonstrable knowledge of technical systems and/or products; experience with P&ID, E&I, European regulations, and L(C)NG is a strong advantage.

-Experience in people management and leading small technical teams is a plus.

-Fluent English, both written and spoken. Fluent in Dutch is a plus.

-Skilled in ERP systems (preferably MS Business Central) and MS Office applications.

-Willingness to travel internationally (Europe) when required.
